im a girl. 12 years old……. already have: madlibs, sleep, videos, psp, and portable dvd player!
Try bringing along stationary, postcards, pen and a stamp. Write your friends and family little notes along the way…and you could pop them in the mail before the drive home. that way you could write out… stuff like i’m on the road again…and wishing you were with me!
also, books on tape or cd would be fun… they can be entertaining if you have a portable cd player you could choose the books YOU want to read from local library before the trip. Or you could buy them at walmart, hastings, etc.
take a camera and make a little tour of your trip. take a photo every 100 miles or so and write a note to yourself of the milemarker, what city you are near and what your taking a photo of. it could be a pic of nothing, but it could be interesting to show to your friends or grandma later.
they have a lot of travel games if you are traveling with a sibling. look in games section, they have a lot of games besides just checkers that are portable and fun for a bit.
take a journal/diary and write down stuff that has been on your mind for awhile that you havent had time for.
take your photos with you and make a scrapbook on the trip. bring paper, precut to the page size of your scrapbook, bring stickers and borders and letters to decorate so that there isnt really any cutting needed and glue sticks (acid free of course to protect your photos and paper) and you are all set. this could even be pics that you already have of your best friend, make her a mini scrapbook as a present for later!
now i want to go on a road trip…sigh….have fun!!!! hope these ideas help you come up with some cool stuff. i always sleep on road trips..lool

Leave all the technology and get away. Run in fields of time. Where there is no reason to hide. Turn off the air conditioning and open up the window. Enjoy the nature and feel the cool breeze. Then load a nice DVD with relaxing music, no heavy metal, and plug your headphones to enjoy the music till you go to sleep. Once you get up feeling refreshed, roll up the windows and turn on the AC. Now, take out your PSP and play NFS Most Wanted or any game which does not involve hardcore violence.. After a nice gaming session, relax and enjoy the ride. If you still have some time remaining, watch those videos. By the time, you are done, you should be at the beach. Then take out your surf board and head straight for the waves.

Wow and I just got back from a 16 hour car ride.
Eh try books, books on tape, cellphone (if you have one) for texting, car games, wave at random people and see their expresions (it’s HILARIOUS!) especially truck drivers, ipods,
but watching movies takes up most of the time.
and you can talk to people in the car like really funny memorable moments that have happened before.
………….
If you have a music player (like an Ipod) thats what i would bring. If you have a cell phone you could talk to your friends, if you don’t want other people to hear then you could text (if you’re able to)
……….
bring cds
prank call ppl
pen an paper (write or draw)
food
make up songs
count trucks
learn to do “magic” tricks with cards
talki on phone
